Thierry Lefort - Residency at the Tsarskoye Selo Museum

French painter Thierry Lefort has been invited to participate in an outdoor painting residency at the Tsarskoye Selo Museum-Preserve in Saint Petersburg. For several days, he will create works inspired by the most beautiful landscapes of the imperial parks.

At the same time, other French artists are working this autumn in several museums in Saint Petersburg and Russia, all members of the National Association for the Revival of Historic Gardens and Parks. The leaders of this association initiated this joint artistic project entitled "Plein air. Historic Landscapes of Russia".

"We invited six French painters, each with their own style, to create landscapes in the historic parks belonging to the institutions that are members of the Association. Three of them were hosted in Saint Petersburg museums: Tsarskoye Selo, the Kirov Central Park of Culture and Leisure, and the Marino Estate," explains Olga Taratynova, director of the Tsarskoye Selo Museum-Preserve and president of the Association.

The other three artists were hosted at the Leo Tolstoy Estate-Museum of Yasnaya Polyana (Tula region), the Oldenburg Palace Complex (Voronezh region), and the Rostov Kremlin Museum-Preserve (Yaroslavl region).

Thierry Lefort begins his painting days at Tsarskoye Selo at eight in the morning. On this particular day, the Marble Bridge in Catherine Park served as his source of inspiration.

Winner of numerous art competitions, Thierry Lefort regularly participates in group and solo exhibitions in major Parisian galleries. He also exhibits permanently in the large Parisian Salons. His painting is distinguished by its unique charm, refinement, elegance, and great sensitivity.

Passionate about drawing and painting since the age of twelve, he trained in various techniques such as pastel, pencil, oil, and watercolor. For him, painting means "capturing the world on the tip of the brush" in all its richness and diversity. Thierry Lefort has developed a very personal way of translating his emotions, which has now become his artistic signature.

At the end of this residency, a touring exhibition featuring the works of the participating French artists was planned. Presented in the various museums belonging to the Association across Russia, it would then continue its journey in France, in several historic estates, chateaux, and landscaped ensembles.

The project benefited from the support of the Russian Embassy in France as well as the Foundation for Gardens and Parks of France, chaired by Princess Marie-Sol de La Tour d’Auvergne.

В музей-заповедник «Царское Село» приехал на пленэр французский художник Тьерри Лефорт (Thierry Lefort). В течение нескольких дней он запечатлеет лучшие пейзажи царскосельских парков. Его коллеги-соотечественники нынешней осенью пишут картины в других петербургских и российских музеях, которые входят в состав национальной ассоциации «Возрождение исторических садов и парков». Руководители ассоциации и придумали такой объединяющий творческий проект «Пленэр. Исторические ландшафты России».

– Мы пригласили шестерых французских живописцев, работающих в разных манерах, для создания пейзажей в наших исторических парках, входящих в состав Ассоциации. Трое из них приехали в петербургские музеи: «Царское Село», ЦПКиО имени Кирова, усадьбу «Марьино», – объясняет директор ГМЗ «Царское Село», председатель правления Ассоциации Ольга Таратынова.

Еще троих художников принимают музей-усадьба Льва Толстого «Ясная Поляна» (Тульская область), Дворцовый комплекс Ольденбургских (Воронежская область), музей-заповедник «Ростовский Кремль» (Ярославская область).

Тьерри Лефорт начинает свой «пейзажный» день в Царском Селе в восемь утра, сегодня его вдохновил Мраморный мост в Екатерининском парке.

Лефорт – лауреат многочисленных художественных конкурсов, почетный участник совместных и автор персональных выставок в ведущих галереях Парижа, постоянный экспонент Парижских салонов. Его живопись отличают особое очарование, изысканность, шарм и легкость восприятия. Лефорт увлекся живописью в возрасте 12 лет, начав изучать различные техники (пастель, карандаш, масло, акварель). С тех пор рисовать для него – это «захватить мир на кончик кисточки» во всей его полноте. Тьерри Лефорт нашел свой особый способ выражения ощущений, ставший его творческой манерой.

В 2018 году по итогам пленэра предполагается организовать передвижную выставку работ французских художников. Она будет путешествовать по российским музеям-участникам Ассоциации. Затем выставка отправится во Францию – в дворцово-парковые комплексы и замки.
