Yoyo Maeght – Biography

Who is Yoyo Maeght
Yoyo Maeght works primarily in the art world.
Yoyo Maeght grew up among artists and poets: Miró, Calder, Chagall, Giacometti, Prévert, Malraux, Aragon... who transmitted to her a truly unique artistic sensibility.
Her grandfather, Aimé Maeght, founder of the Maeght Foundation, bequeathed to her his audacity, determination, and passion for all forms of art. She was administrator of the Maeght Foundation, the Maeght Gallery, and CEO of Maeght Éditeur.
Her passion for modern and contemporary art, her expertise, and her desire to promote culture led her to organize exhibitions for museums and art centers, both in France and abroad, as a business leader in the cultural and artistic field, bridging the private and public sectors.
Yoyo Maeght is at once a gallerist, publisher, exhibition curator, magistrate, teacher, and author of books, including the bestseller La Saga Maeght.
Yoyo Maeght designs and curates exhibitions, selecting artworks, conceptualizing them, and overseeing the editorial production of catalogs. She organizes their communication and promotion by bringing together sponsors, partners, and media around her projects.
Very active on social media, her broadcasts are followed by thousands of internet users.
Yoyo Maeght has initiated over fifty international exhibitions.
In the 1980s, long before the fall of the Berlin Wall, she was the first to organize exhibitions in Czechoslovakia: Miró, Braque, Calder in Prague, as well as Aki Kuroda at the Bratislava Museum. She initiated the first Miró exhibition in Turkey. She collaborates on retrospectives presented by major international museums and art centers: Centre Pompidou in Paris, Royal Academy in London, Munster Museum in Germany, Pera Museum in Istanbul, Imperial City Museum in Beijing, TS1 Art Center in Beijing, and Dolan Museum in Shanghai...
Yoyo Maeght oversaw the organization, staging, and communication of the exhibition Giacometti & Maeght, twenty years of friendship, which became the greatest success in the history of the Marguerite and Aimé Maeght Foundation in Saint-Paul-de-Vence.

La Saga Maeght is above all a tribute to her grandfather.
She retraces the steps of her grandfather, this little boy from the North, an orphan of the 14-18 war, who became a friend of the greatest artists of the 20th century. Gifted, visionary, gallerist, publisher, patron, he built an artistic empire and created, for and with artists, the Maeght Foundation in Saint-Paul-de-Vence. She also evokes the fractures that would dislocate her family.
Yoyo shares memories of a chaotic childhood lived in a whirlwind of openings, parties, exhibitions, projects, failures, and successes, between Paris, Saint-Paul-de-Vence, and New York. She recounts with amusement the complicity that bound her to Miró, Chagall, Braque, Prévert, Montand, Giacometti, and all those who guided her steps from childhood.
