Series - Self-portraits IV

A magnificent self-portrait preserved by the Louvre.
The self-portrait of Jacques-Louis David was painted in 1794. The painting was painted in prison while David was detained at the Hôtel des Fermes for having been part of the Robespierrists. This is his third and final self-portrait. Given to his former student Jean-Baptiste Isabey, the painting entered the collections of the Louvre Museum in 1852.
